Crews are battling a wildfire in the San Bernardino National Forest near Lytle Creek that has burned at least 200 acres Wednesday afternoon.The Nob Fire was reported around 10:15 a.m. and officials said it had burned eight acres, but had the potential to spread quickly. In an update around 7 p.m., officials confirmed the fire is at five percent containment.The fire is being fought on the ground and in the air, according to forest officials. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Police activity at the Civic Center BART station caused major delays across BART on Wednesday evening. BART announced at 6:01 p.m. that the Civic Center station was closed due to police activity. It reopened approximately an hour later. "There is a major delay at San Francisco stations in the SFO, Millbrae, Daly City and East Bay directions due to police activity," BART said.Muni is providing bus service between the 16th Street, Civic Center and Powell stations as BART is delayed. Officials have not released details about what caused the police presence. BART said it is recovering surveillance photo of the incident. This is a developing story. (KRON) -- SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, was detected for the first time in free-ranging California wildlife, according to state officials. A mule deer buck in El Dorado County was confirmed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife said Wednesday. In California, SARS-CoV-2 has been confirmed in pets and zoo animals, but never in free-ranging wildlife before.The deer did not show any outward signs of illness. The deer was harvested in 2021 by a hunter and later tested for disease by CDFW. After reports of SARS-CoV-2 detections in free-ranging white-tailed deer and mule deer in other states and Canadian provinces, CDFW began testing archived deer samples for SARS-CoV-2. CDFW submitted archived samples from 170 black-tailed and mule deer collected in 2020 and 209 black-tailed and mule deer collected in 2021. (KRON) -- A solo vehicle collision was reported Wednesday afternoon, according to the San Rafael Police Department (SRPD). The crash happened around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Freitas Parkway and Northgate Drive.The unidentified driver of the four-door sedan was possibly suffering from a medical emergency, SRPD said. CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State athletic director Scott Barnes was released Wednesday from the hospital where he had been receiving care since having a serious medical event while attending an award ceremony at Fresno State last weekend.Barnes, 60, had been treated at Saint Agnes Medical Center in Fresno, California, since Saturday night. He had been moved out of the intensive care unit to cardio recovery on Tuesday.“The Barnes family is beyond grateful for the love, prayers and support shown to them by Beaver Nation and beyond,” Barnes said in a statement.Barnes is a former Fresno State basketball player and was at the school to receive an award Saturday night.
