Brightly flashing ‘X’ sign removed from the former Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A brightly flashing “X” sign has been removed from the San Francisco headquarters of the company formerly known as Twitter just days after it was installed. The San Francisco Department of Building Inspection said Monday it received 24 complaints about the unpermitted structure over the weekend, including concerns about its structural safety and illumination. The Elon Musk-owned company, which has been rebranded as X, had removed the Twitter sign and iconic blue bird logo from the building last week. That work was temporarily paused because the company did not have the necessary permits. The city of San Francisco had opened a complaint and launched an investigation into the giant “X” sign that was installed Friday on top of the downtown building as Musk continues his rebrand of the social media platform.Representatives for X did not immediately respond to a message for comment Monday. CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Guardians traded starting pitcher Aaron Civale to the Tampa Bay Rays for first base prospect Kyle Manzardo on Monday. The Guardians announced the trade on social media one day before the trade deadline.Civale’s name has been thrown around in trade speculation for weeks, which has coincided with the right-hander pitching as well as he has in several seasons. Civale posted a 1.45 ERA in six July starts. On Sunday, Civale pitched six scoreless innings in a win over the Chicago White Sox to improve to 5-2.The move is a bit surprising from Cleveland’s standpoint since the Guardians are just one-half game out of first place in the AL Central and they have several pitchers, including ace Shane Bieber out with injuries.___AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/mlbSource

DENVER (KDVR) -- Grasshoppers are seemingly everywhere. In your garden. On your plants. In your backyard. Inside your home. Not only are there more grasshoppers than normal, there are more in the city."These changes in insects we're seeing lately, they most possibly are due to global warming effects, such as having these very cold winters and very hot summers," said Francisco Garcia, the entomology manager at Butterfly Pavilion. In turn, more and more of them survive, according to Garcia. But climate change isn't the only reason there are so many grasshoppers this year. Insects are more likely to relocate to the city in search of food, especially with soil erosion and lack of vegetation, Garcia said."Another problem is just the change in the ecosystem that we're having around cities.
